Assam starts rapid corona test after getting nod from ICMR
April 23: After much debate, finally the Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR) has given its approval for rapid antibody test for COVID-19. With the nod from ICMR, Assam has now started rapid anti-body test for coronavirus. “We’ve started Rapid Antibody tests for #COVID19 from Spanish Garden – a containment zone”, tweeted Himanta Biswa Sarma. Minister of State Pijush Hazarika was also present with the health minister at Spanish Garden in Guwahati while the rapid tests were performed on thursday.
Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the rapid test has started on Thursday from Spanish Garden society in Guwahati, which has been declared as a containment zone. The minister added that though such type of rapid antibody tests are non-confirmatory, yet useful for mass surveillance in containment areas as it gives results within 15 minutes. He also informed that the central government has given 9600 Rapid Antibody test kits to Assam.
