Assam-Mizoram border dispute: Sonowal govt to increase border outposts

Nov. 15: The border dispute between Assam and Mizoram has compelled the Sarbananda Sonowal government to increase the number of border outposts. The Assam government has felt the need of improved vigil along the vulnerable stretches of the bordering areas. Further, drones are being used to keep an eye on the forest areas along the border.

It needs mention here that a few days ago Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy drawing attention of the Director General of Police, Assam, MP Silchar Dr. Rajdeep Roy raised the demand of up-gradation of the 20 odd police outposts in the district of Cachar. In a letter addressed to Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, DIG, Assam, Dr. Rajdeep Roy highlighted the need of upgrading the Assam Police infrastructure of Cachar district which is suffering due to lack of up-gradation and man-power since long.

Further, the MP also drew the attention of the state DIG and wrote, “The Rangirkhari and Tarapur Town Out Post needs to be converted to Police Station immediately as because work-load in these two Out Post is immense and no up-gradation has been done since Independence. A new Thana at Dudhpatil (Borkhola LAC) needs to be sanctioned with immediate effect to meet the aspirations of the people of that area. I hope under your guidance and leadership the Cachar Police will undertake work of modernization and up-gradation to fulfill this aspiration of the people in general.”
