Assam has done exceptionally well in managing COVID-19: Amit Shah
Dec. 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his one-day Guwahati visit on Saturday was all praises for the commendable job done by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the management of COVID-19 pandemic. He also highlighted the fact that the 0.47 mortality rate in the state is among the lowest in the world.
In a tweet on Saturday, Himanta Biswa Sarma informed, “Assam has done exceptionally well in managing #COVID19 and my compliments to Health Minister @himantabiswa for having done incredibly well. The 0.47% mortality rate is among lowest in the world – Union HM @AmitShah at Guwahati today.”

On Friday, out of 11,757 tests, 61 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 2,15,836 out of which, 3,422 are active cases. The positivity rate in the state is 0.52 percent.
On Friday, 95 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,11,378 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Further, on Saturday, 02 persons died in Assam due to COVID-19. The death tally of the state now stands at 1035.
