Assam govt to appoint 8,855 doctors, nurses, paramedics in health department: Cabinet
Aug 11: In a significant move, the state Cabinet on Wednesday accorded approval to appoint 8,855 technical posts viz. doctors, nurses, paramedics, etc. in Health Department. The process will start in September, 2021. Announcing this, the spokespersons of Assam Cabinet said that this would go a long way in fulfilling the poll promise made by BJP to provide 1 lakh jobs in a year.
The Cabinet Meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also took some other important decisions, which are:
- Training on driving: To start 45-day training on Driving for 6,600 youths. Atleast 50 youths from each constituency will be provided this training which will be jointly organised by Transport & Skill Development Departments. The Cabinet further decided that on completion of the 45-day training, the trainees will get Driving Licenses and be eligible for Rs 1 Iakh subsidy to purchase commercial passenger vehicles.
- DA hike: Enhancement of DA of State Govt employees & DR for pensioners from earlier 17% to 28%, an increase of 11%, with effect from July 1, 2021. This will cost the exchequer Rs 195 crore per month
- Leave of absence: Leave of absence of State Govt employees who were absent from their headquarters office prior to 20 March, 2020 due to COVID pandemic, to be regularised
- ‘Lalung’ to ‘Tiwa’: State Govt to request Central Govt to replace the word “Lalung”, enlisted as sub-tribe in ST, with “Tiwa”.
