Assam govt reconstitutes new Bengali Speaking Development Council with Rupam Saha as Chairman

Jan. 19: The Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes Department, Government of Assam in a notification issued on 19 January, 2021 reconstituted the Bengali Speaking Development Council. The 25-member committee was reconstituted with Rupam Saha of Silchar as its Chairman and and Jayanta Biswas from Barpeta Road as its Vice Chairman. The others who were included in the committee from Barak Valley are Dr. Probal Paul Choudhury from Cachar and Prodip Dey from Hailakandi. Earlier, Sukumar Biswas was the Chairman of the Bengali Speaking Development Council.
