Assam govt introduces new ‘Deptt for Indigenous Faith & Culture’: Chief Minister

July 10: On the occasion of the completion of two months of the newly formed Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam Government, a special cabinet meeting was held in Dispur on Saturday. At this Cabinet meeting, discussion was held on a number of important issues, such as, major administrative reforms, planning and functioning of the government and creation of separate departments for the development of tribal art and culture.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that a new department of the state government was formed which was unanimously approved by the cabinet. The new department was named, “Department for Indegenous Faith & Culture.”

The Chief Minister said that the primary aim of this department is to preserve and propagate the indegenous faith and culture of Assam. It is in this regard that the state Finance Minister, Ajanta Neog has been asked to allocate budget provisions.
