Assam Govt. announces one-time financial aid upto Rs 1 lakh to children of paper mill employees

January 09: Assam Finance Minister Himanata Biswa Sarma in a press meet in Janata Bhawan on 9 January announced one-time financial aid upto Rs 1 lakh to the children of employees of two defunct Nagaon & Cachar HPC Paper Pills for education purpose.

Rs 1 lakh will be given to the children of employees pursuing Ph.D, medical, engineering & other professional courses. The students pursuing graduation & polytechnical will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000 for students pursuing post graduation. The minister further announced that for the students of higher secondary, the government will grant Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 for students upto Class 10.

They can claim the money from 14 January, 2020 onwards through the online website of Assam government. The last date for applying for these grants is 20 January, 2020. The Deputy Commissioners will inspect the applications within 30 January, 2020 and the money will be transferred to the account of the students in the 1st week of February.

The one-time grant is applicable to children of regular employees of HPC pursuing courses within or outside Assam. The minister said, “I have said it yesterday and today also that we will provide everything that the employees deserve.”
