Assam Government to confer Republic Day Journalism Award to Anil Barua

Jan. 25: The Government of Assam has announced the Republic Day Journalism Award 2022 to eminent journalist of the state and former Editor of Dainik Asam Anil Barua for excellence in the field of journalism. This award carries an amount of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation, a memento and an angabastra.

It is worth mentioning that every year the Government of Assam declares this award on the eve of Republic Day and the former awardees include Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, Kanak Sen Deka, Dhirendra Nath Chakravartty, Jadu Kakati and Atin Das. However, in view of the prevailing Covid-19 situation, the award will be ceremonially presented on a later date.
