4 MBBS students, doctor’s wife among dead

Four MBBS students and the wife of a doctor were among those killed after the London-bound Air India flight crashed into the residential quarters of BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, a senior official confirmed.
Dr Minakshi Parikh, dean of BJ Medical College, told reporters, “Four MBBS students living in the hostel died in the incident. Nineteen others were injured, and five of them are in serious condition. Two third-year students are still missing.”
She added, “The wife of a doctor also lost her life. Two relatives of other doctors were injured, and three members of another doctor’s family are currently untraceable. All other doctors and their family members are safe.”
Additional Chief Secretary of Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department Dhananjay Dwivedi said that the students’ hostel, staff quarters, and residential areas near the crash site were affected. Many residents were injured as a result.

Photos from the crash site show untouched food and glasses on canteen tables, indicating that students were having lunch when the crash happened.
