Areas surrounding Don Bosco School, Ramnagar declared as containment zone

May 23: A COVID-19 positive case was reported from a quarantine centre Ramnagar in Silchar. This new COVID-19 positive patient, a 7 years old minor girl is a resident of Badripur, Kashipur Part IV in Cachar district. However, she was quarantined at Silchar Don Bosco School at Ramnagar having travel history of returning from Telengana. After testing positive, she was admitted in the COVID-19 ward at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

In an order issued by District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli on 23 May, it was stated that, to contain the further spread of the virus, the area surrounding Don Bosco School, Ramnagar Silchar (Quarantine Centre) was declared as a containment zone and it was immediately sealed. Further, the area inside the following geographical boundaries was also sealed:

  • East: Paddy field
  • West: Shankar Basti, Village
  • South: Chenkuri Road
  • North: Shiv Mandir

To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:

  1. Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
  2. No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
  3. Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
  4. No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
  5. No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
  6. People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
  7. Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.

District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli stated that the orders are issued under the Regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and shall be effective from 09.00 PM of 23 May, 2020 until further orders.
