APCC arrange bus, sends 120 migrant labourers stuck in Assam to West Bengal
May 17: Around 120 migrant labourers of West Bengal were stuck in various parts of Assam due to the ongoing lockdown. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) under the leadership of its President Ripun Bora took initiative to send them to their home state. APCC managed 5 buses which left from Guwahati ISBT on Sunday along with the workers in the presence of Ranjan Bora, General Secretary of APCC. Other General Secretaries Kalyan Jyoti Gogoi, Pankaj Borbora and Secretaries Ramannya Baruah, Digonto Bhuson Burman, Ankur Raj Gogoi and others.
It is to be mentioned that out of 120 workers, 20 of them were stuck in Silchar and Sanjeev Roy, Secretary APCC has taken all the initiative to send them to Guwahati and from there to Murshidabad with the help of APCC. During recent time two other groups, 20 from Jalpaiguri and 26 from Baherampur, who were stuck at Silchar, were helped by Sanjeev Roy and Silchar DCC to reach their destination with ease.
Moreover, a team of 40 brick kiln workers of Dholai were also sent to their destination in Barpeta recently with joint efforts of Sanjeev Roy and Silchar DCC. Speaking to newsmen, Sanjeev Roy said, “APCC has undertaken this task of helping the people following the direction of their party supremo Sonia Gandhi.”
