Another +ve case in Cachar, total in Assam goes up to 97
May 17: After a few days gap, once again news of worry for Cachar district. A 28 years old person who arrived in Cachar from Chennai on Saturday was detected to be COVID-19 positive. The person is now undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This would take the total tally of Cachar district to 12, though out of 12, one person was already discharged. That means in Cachar, there are now a total of 11 active cases who are all under treatment at SMCH. Whereas, in Assam, the total number has increased to 97.
Speaking to way2barak, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy informed that the person was already kept under quarantine in a hotel at Silchar. After the report of the swab test came positive, the man was taken to COVID-19 ward at SMCH. The man is a resident of Borthal in Lakhipur constituency of Cachar. Dr. Roy said, “The condition of the man is stable.” He further urged the people not to panic.
Sharing this information, State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “A 28-year person from Cachar dist, who arrived from Chennai yesterday, has tested #COVID +. He is now under treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital.”
