Helpline for senior citizens opened by Assam Police

May 23: In a praiseworthy step, Assam Police has started a helpline for senior citizens living in Assam and staying alone. The help request can be sent through the following WhatsApp numbers: 6026900973, 6026900976 and 6026900968. Apart from these centralised helpline numbers, district wise helpline numbers were also provided. Here are the district wise helpline numbers for the 3 districts of Barak Valley for seeking help by senior citizens:

• Hailakandi: 94353-29685, 98646-09954

The following facilities will be provided by the Assam Police to the senior citizens:

• Facilitating movement for COVID vaccination during lockdown restrictions, if slot is booked.
• Arranging a personal visit to check on well being, if the senior citizen is alone and in need.
• Facilitating essential supplies/ medicines (not related to COVID treatment and if not available locally).
• Liaison with health authorities.
• Any other distress call.
