Alarming! 93 +ve in Cachar on Sunday including 19 from Janiganj alone

3 doctors tests positive on Sunday

July 19: Sunday recorded the biggest single day spike of 93 coronavirus positive cases in the district of Cachar. The numbers are expected to rise.

In the 1st slot, 15 persons were tested positive, out of which 11 persons are from Janiganj, Silchar who came in contact with the deceased Narayan Mitra of that area. They are Sabitri Bose (61), Soumajit Mitra (04), Bibhu Acharjee (43),Tapash Deb (28), Mumpi Acharjee (42), Sindhu Rani Mitra (91), Priyanka Roy Mitra (32), Shankar Bose (35), Sandhya Das (52), Sanchita Paul (40) and Anita Paul (60). All of them are asymptomatic and came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Their swab samples were collected on 17 July and their positive report came on Sunday.

Apart from them, 4 more were detected positive as per the 1st slot in Cachar. They are Abdul Karim Laskar (24) from Berenga Part-1 who exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms.His swab was also collected on 17 July. He is symptomatic. Dr. Sneha Roy (29) from Nascent Hostel at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) also tested positive during the day. She came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Her swab sample was collected on 18 July. She is asymptomatic. Dr. Sirshendu Roy (32) from Nivedita Lane, Hailakandi Road, Silchar was detected as COVID-19 positive on Sunday. Further, Sujay Hazam (42) from Borjalenga exhibited SARI symptoms and was tested positive. He is symptomatic. Another person, Gautam Adhikari (60) from Premtola also tested positive. He too exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms.His swab was also collected on 18 July and his positive report came on 19 July.

In the 2nd slot, 29 persons were tested COVID-19 positive, out of which another 8 persons are from Janigani Silchar. They are Bhanu Bhusan Roy (67), Tamashi Mitra (50), Jui Paul (28), Mukta Kanu (32), Rajmohan Rabidas (32), Purnima Paul (60), Kaushik Das (15) and Lucky Das (19). All of them are asymptomatic and came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Their swab samples were collected on 17 July and their positive report came on Sunday.

Further, 4 persons from Silchar Central Jail also tested positive. They are Pranjit Deb Choudhury (45), Sankar Suklabaidya (35), Jalal Uddin Laskar (36) and Abhishek Sarkar (40). They were detected positive through Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). They also are asymptomatic.

Another person, Jagannath Dutta (30) from Gangapara in Rongpur also tested positive during the day. His swab was collected on 17 July under Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). Abul Laskar (41) from Sonai Tulagram travelled from Bangalore and was detected as corona positive on Sunday.

Apart from them, 15 personnel from BSF Dholcherra Camp also tested positive on 18 July. They are Sashi Kumar (31), NC Saha (51), Satish Kumar (30), Mustak Ahmed (41), Prakash Ray (41), Jahal Ahmed (46), Sandeep Kumar (30), Mohan Singh (45), Ramesh Lal (47), Chouhan Sankar (31), SK Biswas (48), Mukesh Babu (44), Amren Chandra Roy (34), SS Mondal (39) and Arvind Kumar (36). All of them came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Their swab samples were collected on 17 July and their positive report came on Sunday. They are asymptomatic.

Five more persons were detected as positive on Sunday through COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test. They are Rathindra Choudhury (58) from Shib Colony, Silchar, Rabindra Paul (76) from Tarapur, Bimal Paul (78) from Central Road, Rintu Paul (32) from Tarapur, Chaitali Das (34) from Harinagar, Cachar and S.K. Waghle (46) from 37 Assam rifles, Cachar. He (Waghle) died due to COVID-19.

In the 3rd slot, 19 more were detected as COVID-19 positive. They are Bikas Mal (22) from Fatak Bazar, Silchar, Ehthesamul Islam Laskar (23) from Sonai Road (air passenger from Bangalore), Minar Hussain laskar (20) from Bilpar (air passenger from Bangalore), Shamsuddin Laskar (28) (travelled from Hyderabad), SK Siraj (23) from Itkhola (travelled from West Bengal), Bunnan Sheikh (20) from Itkhola (travelled from West Bengal), Mijabur Rahman (23) from Bagador (travelled from Uttar Pradesh), Sekhar Chandra Das (49) from Kanakpur Pt-2 (SMCH Staff), Dr. Nusrat Azim (27) from SMCH, Dr. Juri Taye (26) from SMCH and Amrit Saha (45) from Kanakpur, Mahadeb Bari Road.

Apart from these, some others in this positive list are Mantu Lal Dusad (23) from Pailapool (travelled from Hyderabad) and Bijay Kr Rai (43) from Pailapool (travelled from West Bengal). Shamsuddin Laskar (28) from Hawaithang (travelled from Hyderabad) also tested positive. Apart from them some jawans from Assam Rifles & BSF Dholcherra also were detected positive as per the 3rd slot.

However, though 93 persons were tested positive on 19 July, the particulars of all were not furnished till the filing of this report. Here we have provided the particulars of 70 persons detected as COVID-19 positive on Sunday in Cachar. The numbers are further expected to rise in the night.
