AHSEC reintroduces Alternative English in lieu of MIL for admission in HS 1st year
Aug. 18: In a recent development, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to reintroduce Alternative English in lieu of MIL for admission in Higher Secondary First Year. Issuing an order to this effect by the Secretary of AHSEC on 18 August, it was stated, “It is to inform all the institutions under AHSEC that the subject “Alternative English (ALTE)” will be continued as a part of core subject ‘in lieu of MIL’ as earlier.”
Subsequently, the concerned institutions will now be able to add Alternative English as a core subject by updating their profile in ‘DARPAN’ admission portal (www.darpan.ahseconline.in). In the greater interest of the students, institutions are requested to update their profiles by 20 August, 2021.

Further, the students who had already applied for admission may now update their applications, if they desire to opt Alternative English as core subject by logging into their respective profiles.
Earlier, AHSEC has decided to withdraw Alternative English from the list of Modern Indian Languages (MIL) from the next academic session 2021-22. However, on 18 August, this notification was modified by allowing students to opt for Alternative English in lieu of MIL.
