Meanwhile, issuing statements, both ABVP and NSUI denounced hooliganism exhibited by the students and demanded exemplary punishment for those who would be found guilty. In a press release, Kisholoy Chakraborty, Secretary, ABVP Silchar Unit stated, “We are a nationalist students organisation and hold the teachers and media fraternity in high esteem. We strongly denounce such unruly behaviour by some students against the teachers and media.”

ABVP further clarified, “Students who were involved in the ruckus which took place inside the campus of Cachar College are not our members. Nitish Tiwari, Rahul Kanu and Deba Nath holds no position at present in ABVP. A few days ago when Nitish Tiwari and the two other students acted against the decision of the organisation, at that time all 3 of them were suspended from even the primary membership of ABVP.” They instead demanded strict action by the authority against such erring students.

Apart from ABVP, NSUI too condemned the manhandling of teachers and Media personnel today inside the Cachar College campus. In a press statement, Julfikar Mazumdar, President, NSUI Cachar stated, “Their unfair conduct with media personals and teachers is utterly shameful and objectionable.
Teachers are our guiding light and our role model both inside and outside college campuses. Any sort of violent activity on them is shameful and condemnable. Media is the fourth pillar of democracy and any attack on them is highly condemnable. Intimidation of media is not acceptable in a democratic nation like India. We firmly stand with teachers and media personnel and demand strict & immediate lawful action against the miscreants.”

However, NSUI in its press statement also wrote, “The alleged student is associated with ABVP. He was not only their College Unit President, but also contested as their nominated candidate for the post of President in the previously held Cachar College Students’ Union election 2022.”
