3rd Unity March draws massive public participation in Badarpur

way2barak, November 23:—The 3rd Unity March of Cachar, organised by the District Administration in collaboration with MY Bharat, unfolded on Sunday at Badarpur Town with an inspiring display of patriotism, harmony and collective energy. The Padayatra, stretching from the historic Badarpur Fort to the Railway Institute, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of more than 1,400 participants from Kalain, Katigorah and Badarpur, making it one of the district’s most vibrant public gatherings in recent years.
The programme was graced by Chief Guest Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya, along with MY Bharat Deputy Director Mehbub Alam Laskar, Badarpur Municipality Chairperson Rubi Nag, Circle Officers Dr. Robert Tulor and Joykristina, as well as senior political, academic and community leaders from across the region. With over 29 youth clubs, NGOs, SHG members and students from various institutions participating, the event transformed into a festival of unity and civic pride.
The highlight of the event was the powerful and elaborate address delivered by Chief Guest, Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya, who captivated the gathering with a deeply insightful tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He described Patel as “the iron backbone of India’s political unity” and emphasised the timeless relevance of his leadership in shaping the nation’s destiny.
MP Suklabaidya spoke at length about Patel’s remarkable journey from rural Gujarat to becoming one of the tallest architects of independent India. He reflected on Patel’s grit, personal sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the nation, calling his life story “a source of inspiration for generations.” The MP highlighted Patel’s unparalleled achievement in integrating 562 princely states, calling it one of the most extraordinary administrative successes in world history.
The MP stated that the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s ability to bring diverse communities and differing ideologies under a shared national objective showcased leadership far ahead of his time. “Today’s united and sovereign India stands as a living testament to Sardar Patel’s courage and farsighted vision,” he said, urging the youth of Cachar to embody the values of unity, discipline and nation-first thinking.
While speaking at the event, Katigorah Circle Officer Dr. Robert Tulor (ACS) also addressed the gathering, sharing reflections on Patel’s leadership and administrative brilliance.
Earlier, in his welcome address, MY Bharat Deputy Director Mehbub Alam Laskar praised the citizens especially the youth of Kalain, Katigorah and Badarpur for turning the march into a symbolic demonstration of national solidarity. He stated that the involvement of government departments, NSS, NCC, youth clubs, SHGs and NGOs reflected the growing strength of Cachar’s social engagement and community-driven initiatives.
The programme culminated in a colourful cultural presentation featuring traditional performances, including folk dance, Manipuri dance, Khasia dance and the popular Bengali Dhamail. The harmonious blend of cultures reinforced the very message the Unity March sought to celebrate.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Prosenjit Bhattacharjee, appreciating the coordinated efforts of all departments, youth groups and the District Administration for ensuring the success of the march.
