AAI Silchar Airport organises vaccination drive, 208 employees & stakeholders vaccinated

April 24: Since the last four days, the Cachar district administration has been doing Covid test of incoming air passengers at Tikal Model Hospital near Salganga in Cachar. Till now, Covid test of 1,404 air passengers were done, out of which, 26 were detected positive. This has become a major cause of concern for the AAI Silchar Airport authorities. To allay their concern, the Cachar district administration organised a vaccination drive at the Airport premises.

This COVID-19 Vaccination Drive was organised for all employees & stakeholders working at Airport on Friday. The Vaccination drive got an overwhelming response and all employees of Airports Authority of India, Air India, Spice Jet, Indigo, Ground Handling Agencies, working staff, related stakeholders & some residents of Airport vicinity also got themselves vaccinated. The CISF also lend their supporting hand in this drive. The vaccination drive was conducted in the Cargo complex, located towards city side, for convenience of all concerned.

A total of 208 persons got Vaccinated, out of which 204 got their First dose and 04 got their Second dose. AAI on behalf of all Airlines & stakeholders of Silchar Airport extended its gratitude and thanks to the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar & District Immunization Officer, Cachar for their active support in providing Covaxin Vaccines, Vaccinators & staff for carrying out the Vaccination drive for the Frontline Warriors who are eventually responsible for the safety & security of the passengers and their colleagues at this Airport.

In a press release issued by the Office of the Airport Director, AAI Silchar Airport on Saturday, it was stated that “In view of the tremendous response & queries received from the local community at Kumbhirgram, it has been decided that District Administration may use our Cargo Complex & ready infrastructure, located at the city side, for carrying out Vaccination drive for the community at large. This would tremendously help the general public as everyone above 18 years old will now be eligible for a vaccine from 1st May.”

The OSD, AAI Silchar, Arnab Das further mentioned that, “The health & well-being of Airport employees, our passengers and the community is now the foremost priority of Airports Authority of India and several steps are being taken like routine sanitisation of work place, frequent cleaning of touch points, barring entry at Airport without masks and several other steps are being implemented as per guidelines. We shall overcome and win this fight against the pandemic.”
