Drive by Assam Forest dept continues: Illegal band saw mills dismantled

July 6: Three bend saw mill were seized at Nagarbera riverine area by forest personnel of Kamrup West Division on Tuesday. On Monday, two illegal band saw mills were detected and seized by the Forest Range Officer (FRO) at Barpeta Road in Barpeta district.

The FRO and his personnel seized the band saw mills operating at Banglai village under Sarbhog Beat Office and brought under the departmental safe custody. Minister for Environment and Forest, Parimal Suklabaidya has issued strict directive to the officials of the department to intensify drive against illegal band saw mills. Following his directive, scores of saw mills operating illegally have been dismantled.
