Barak Valley registers 192 Covid +ve cases on Saturday, 622 discharged & 3 deaths at SMCH

There are 2,201 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

June 26: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Saturday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat more. A total of 192 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 622 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three  districts of the valley. At present, there are 2,201 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Friday, Barak Valley registered 190 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Saturday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 114 positive cases   (It was 124 on Friday)
  • Karimganj: 55 positive cases (It was 50 on Friday)
  • Hailakandi: 23 positive cases (It was 16 on Friday)

 A total of 114 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 8,658 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 70 persons were found positive, whereas 44 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,310, whereas during this phase, 16,068 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,077.  Also, 521 patients were discharged during the day.  Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 25 June to 5 PM on 26 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 01 is from Karimganj district, 01 from Cachar and 01 from Hailakandi district.

The deceased were identified as Radhapati Lohar (65) from Loairpowa in Karimganj district, Chandra Mohan Singha (72) from Bilaipur in Hailakandi district and Subodh Chandra Bhattacharjee (86) from Malugram, Silchar.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 26 June, there were 138 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 61 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 77 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 82 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 09 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 15 of them were discharged.

Hailakandi registered 23 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. Of the 23 positive cases detected on Saturday, 20 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 03 was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 293 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,426 RAT tests and 238 RT-PCR tests were done. 56 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,466. As of now, a total of 3,751 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 16 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Friday.

Karimganj registered 55 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday. The district has currently 831 active COVID-19 cases, while 45 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Saturday. 4,686 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 50 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Friday.

On Saturday, out of 1,27,887 tests, 2,640 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,99,121. The positivity rate in the state is 2.06 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 172 positive cases during the day. Further, on Saturday, 33 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,403. The recovery rate is 93.33 percent.At present, there are 28,457 active cases in the state. On Saturday, 3,499 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,65,806 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. The recovery rate in the state is 93,33 percent.  At present, there are 27,565 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 33 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 33 deceased, 08 are from Dibrugarh; 06 from Nagaon; 03 each from Sonitpur & Tinsukia; 02 each from Barpeta & Kamrup Metro; 01 each from Baksa, Biswanath, Darrang, Hojai, Golaghat, Karimganj, Kokhrajhar, Nalbari & Sivasagar. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,403.
