205 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Tuesday, 2 deaths at SMCH

Covid Curfew to continue in Cachar from 1 PM to 5 AM

June 15:  A total of 205 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Tuesday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 4,831 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 189 were found positive, whereas 16 others tested positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Tuesday evening. Also during the day, 299 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged during the day. It needs mention here that 298 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Monday.

Assam Government on Tuesday came up with new guidelines in order to contain the further spread of coronavirus in the state. In Cachar district, shops and business establishments etc will close at 12 noon and Covid curfew will continue here in Cachar from 1 PM to 5 AM.

Districts where the total number of cumulative cases and per day cases are still showing persistently high numbers, especially Cachar, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Nagaon will be under close watch till 21 June, 2021. In case, there is no improvement in the COVID status in these districts, stricter restrictions may follow, stated the new SOP.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 14 June to 5 PM on 15 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), although none of them are from Cachar. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the three deceased on Tuesday, 01 of them is from Karimganj  district and the other is from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as Nitai Chandra Dey (56) from Shyama Prasad Road in Karimganj and Kamala Bibi Majumder (45) from Chiparsangan Part-II in Hailakandi district.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 15 June, there were 160 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 93 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 67 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 23 patients were put under ventilator support and 119 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 16 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 34 of them were discharged. Further, 16 of them have opted for home isolation.
