Webinar on ‘Astronomy, Eclipse & Myths’ organised by Rotary Club, Hailakandi
June 9: On June 10, 2021 the first solar eclipse of the year will be visible only from Canada, Greenland and Russia. In India, it will be visible only in some parts of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. People are always curious about Astronomy and Eclipses but in this 21st century still many have lots of myths regarding astronomy and also about eclipses.
To make the people aware about this topic, Rtn. Shankar Choudury, President Rotary Club, Hailakandi informed that on June 10 from 6.30 pm, an online discussion has been arranged through google meet connecting three luminaries in this field, who will be discussing about issues related to eclipses and bring out a detailed explanation of myths versus facts.
The three speakers who will participate in the webinar are Dr. Debiprosad Duari, Director (Research & Academics) M.P. Birla Institute of Fundamental Studies, Kolkata; Dr. Kishor Baruah, Senior Technical Officer, Dept. Of Physics of Tezpur University and Dr. Himadri Sekhar Das, Associate Professor, Dept of Physics, Assam University. The program will be coordinated by Dr. Sandipan Dhar, member of Rotary Club, Hailakandi. The discussion will be streamed live at Clubs Facebook page as well as YouTube channel.
It needs mention here that for the last 1 year, Rotary Club, Hailakandi is organising several programmes for dissemination of scientific information, awareness among the masses.
