Barak Valley registers 810 Covid +ve cases on Monday, 7 deaths recorded
May 31: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Monday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 810 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. It needs mention here that on Sunday, Barak Valley registered 366 positive cases. At present, there are 5,520 active Covid cases in Barak Valley.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 528 positive cases (It was 204 on Sunday- till 6 PM.. Data was not updated by Dist Health Deptt on Sunday night)
- Karimganj: 149 positive cases (It was 58 on Sunday)
- Hailakandi: 133 positive cases (It was 104 on Sunday)
A total of 528 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Monday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 7,858 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 419 persons were found positive, whereas 109 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 10,196 in 2021, whereas during the year, 6,793 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 3,304.
It needs mention here that till 6 PM on Sunday, 204 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar. However, the updated data, which was furnished by the District Media Expert every night after 10 PM was not provided to the media and hence the updated figure of Sunday was not possible to be published.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 30 May to 5 PM on 31 May) witnessed demise of 07 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), Green Heals Pvt Hospital and Cachar Cancer Hospital. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board.
The 03 deceased from Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) were identified as Taj Uddin Laskar (43) from Katigorah Part-III in Cachar district, Babul Ghosh (70) from Das Colony, Silchar and Amalendu Guha (78) from Nag Naha Lane, Silchar. The DDIPRO informed about another death at SMCH, but details about which was not available.
Apart from the 04 deceased at SMCH, another 02 persons died at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC) and 01 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital, Silchar. However, till the filing of this report, the details of the 02 deceased at CCHRC was not available. The patient who died at Green Heals Pvt Hospital is Girindra Debnath (80) from Panisagar in Tripura. The patient was admitted at Green Heals on 28 May and died at 5.45 PM on 31 May.
Hailakandi registered 133 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Of the 133 positive cases detected on Monday, 119 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 14 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 1,437 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 2,071 RAT tests and 249 RT-PCR tests were done. 17 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that 104 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Sunday. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 6,269.
As of now, in the 55,160 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 16,340 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 149 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 7,613. Of the 149 active cases detected on Monday, 129 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test and 20 under RT-PCR. It needs mention here that 58 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Sunday. The district has currently 1,141 active COVID-19 cases while 83 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Monday. 4,306 swab samples were collected on Monday. Altogether 2,91,596 swab samples have been tested so far. 28 persons with high risk contacts traced and tested on Monday.
On Monday, out of 1,11,586 tests, 4,348 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,11,216. The positivity rate in the state is 3.90 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 384 positive cases during the day. Further, on Monday, 65 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. On Monday, 4,348 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 3,54,810 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 51,694 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 65 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 65 deceased, 10 are from Kamrup Metro; 09 in Kamrup Rural; 07 in Jorhat; 05 in Sivasagar; 04 each in Cachar, Darrang & Dibrugarh; 03 each in Bongaigaon, Morigaon & Golaghat; 02 each in Barpeta, Hojai, Nalbari, Sonitpur & Udalguri; 01 each from Baksa, Dhubri & Nagaon. The death tally of the state now stands at 3,365.
