With 103 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 486 on 21 May, 5 deaths registered
Active cases 1,888 in Cachar
May 21: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Friday at 10.30 PM. As per the latest data, 103 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 486 persons were found positive in the district on 21 May. This is the highest single day spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the district since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. Earlier, at 6.00 PM, it was informed that 383 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,888. Also, 236 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Thursday was 333.
As per the updated data, a total of 5.706 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 361 persons were found positive, whereas 1255 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Friday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 6,095 in 2021, whereas during the year, 4,160 patients were discharged.
Apart from this, Suman Choudhury informed that out of the 1,888 active patients:
- 295 of them are admitted at SMCH
- 10 at MH
- 30 at SMDCH
- 42 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
- 26 at CRPF Doyapur
- 16 at Gracewell Nursing Home
- 14 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
- 22 at Valley Hospital
- 26 at South City Hospital
- 02 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
- 13 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
- 1,392 patients are in home isolation.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. Thursday witnessed demise of 05 more Covid-19 positive patients. 04 of them died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), whereas, 01 died at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 05 deceased, 04 are from Cachar district, while 01 of them is from Hailakandi.
The deceased were identified as: Nanda Kishore Singha (71) from Sudarshanpur in Hailakandi, MayImrana Begum (38) from Tejitikar in Cachar and Putul Chandra Das (78) and Ajoy Majhi (48) from Malugram, Silchar. They died at SMCH. Whereas, one Mira Paul (77) from Ambicapatty, Silchar died at the Cachar Cancer Hospital at 3.30 AM on 21 May.
