Open shops at 6 AM, put circle marks outside, appeals DGP to all shopkeepers

May 17: The over-crowding in markets and shops during the non-curfew hours in Assam has become a cause of concern for the government. This often leads to increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the state. This apprehension was expressed by Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, while addressing a press meet in Guwahati on Monday.

The DGP Assam appealed to the shopkeepers to kindly open their shops and business establishments at 6 in the morning, so that the customers may find enough time to purchase their necessities and thereby avoid over crowding. He said that if shops are opened early in the morning than the people will have around 5 hours to go venture out and purchase commodities. So there won’t be rush at the last hour. He also urged upon the people to avoid crowding and exhibit Covid appropriate behaviour.

DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta further requested the shopkeepers to put circle marks outside their shops so that proper distance can be maintained by the buyers. This he said was very essential to break the chain of the deadly coronavirus.
