DCs instructed to organise camps in schools, colleges & vaccinate teachers above 45 years
There is sufficient vaccine in Assam for the month of April says Himanta Biswa Sarma
April 17: The Deputy Commissioner’s of the districts in Assam has been instructed to organise camps in schools and colleges wherein those faculty members above 45 years of age should be vaccinated. This was stated by the state Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference at Gauhati Medical college & Hospital (GMCH) on Friday evening.
He further informed that at present 6,07,000 doses of vaccine is available in the state. Distribution of the vaccines throughout the districts is going on. The minister further stated, “From 19 April onwards, vaccines will be made available in the districts. Those who have already taken the 1st dose will be administered the 2nd one and those who want to avail the 1st dose can also do so from day after tomorrow.” He further announced that there will be no shortage of vaccine during this month, that is, in April 2021.
It has been decided that elementary schools will remain closed in districts with over 100 COVID cases. In schools, we’ll organize camps to vaccinate teachers over the age of 45.
