West Bengal records 79.79% & Assam 76.89% voter turnout during Phase 1 on 27 March

March 27: Voting for the 47 constituencies of Assam during the Phase 1 of Assam Assembly Election, 2021 has began on Saturday morning at 7 AM. Long queues could be seen outside polling booths with voters and election officials adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Altogether 264 candidates, including 23 women are in the fray.

As per the ‘Turnout App’ of Election Commission of India (ECI), 76.89 percent of electors exercised their franchise during the day in 47 constituencies of Assam. ECI in its app, however, mentioned that this is approximate trend as data from some Polling Stations (PS) takes time. Final data for each PS is shared in Form 17C with all polling agents.

West Bengal reported 79.79 per cent voter turnout in the first phase of the 2021 Assembly election while Assam, which also began voting today, as per ECI ‘Turnout App.’ 30 assembly constituencies in West Bengal went for the polls on Saturday.

  • Sonitpur: 71.80%
  • Tinsukia: 76.63%

ECI in its app, however, mentioned that this is approximate trend as data from some Polling Stations (PS) takes time to reach.
