CM Sonowal praises Fishery deptt for getting 4 national awards on World Fisheries Day

Nov. 26: A review meeting was held at the conference hall of Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday, where Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the overall progress and status of the Fishery Department in presence of Minister for Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya.

In the review meeting Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I am very much delighted to know that Assam Fishery Department has received four prestigious National Awards on the occasion of World Fisheries Day on 21 November, 2020 in New Delhi”.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Fishery Department, Assam has received 4 awards from Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairing and Fisheries, Government of India. The department got the awards in- Best Hilly & NE State by Assam, Best Hilly & NE District by Nagaon District, Best Quasi Govt. Organization by FISHFED, Assam and Best Fish Farmers from Hilly & NE States by Amal Medhi,Nalbari.

In the meeting, the fishery department has been asked to give more attention to fish value added products preparation so that the talented young generation may come forward and earn huge profits from such endeavour. Rakesh Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary, Fishery, Director of Fisheries, Assam, District Fisheries Devlopment Officer, Nagaon, MD, FISHFED were present in the meeting.
