A sea of people pay deep homage to veteran leader Tarun Gogoi
Gogoi to be cremated with full state honour on 26 November
Nov. 24: People from various walks of life including politicians, ministers, bureaucrats, party workers and common people paid their last tribute to the mortal remains of former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi. The veteran Congress leader breathed his last at 5.34 PM on Monday in Gauhati medical College & Hospital (GMCH). He was 86. The three-time CM has been on life-support during the past two days following multi-organ failure on 21 November.
Early during the day, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) secretary Bhupen Bora told that the body of the former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be taken from his residence to to Congress headquarters at Rajeev Bhawan. From there, his body will also be taken to Assam Secretariat and State Assembly. Finally, his body will be taken to Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. He will be cremated on 26 November.
