39 tests +ve in Cachar on Saturday; 1 more dies at SMCH
Oct. 10: On Saturday, a total of 39 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 37 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 02 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,684. It needs mention here that 53 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, 132 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 492 persons were collected. 603 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 02 of them tested positive. Further, 324 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 07 were found positive.
Apart from this, 19 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 12 were discharged. At present, there are 117 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 23 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 23 patients are now in critical condition. Another 09 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 210 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 397 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 1 patient from Cachar died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 156 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 156 deaths, 62 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
