Veteran actress & MP Jaya Bachhan slams Kangana Ranaut’s ‘gutter’ remark in Parliament

Sept. 15: Veteran actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachhan came out sharply against certain comments of Kangana Ranaut & BJP MP Ravi Kishan relating to the film industry. Taking a dig at Kangana Ranaut, Jaya Bachhan said that those who have made a name for themselves by working in the industry are now calling it a ‘gutter’.

Jaya Bachhan said, ‘The entertainment industry in our country provides direct employment every day to five lakh people and indirect employment to five million people. At a time when the financial situation is in a depressing state and employment is at the worst level, in order to divert the attention of the people, we are being used to be flogged by social media and the government’s non-support.”

In the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Jaya Bachchan demanded the government to provide protection and put a ban on the unending bashing being faced by members of the film industry. “It is the film industry that gave name and fame to many people. There is a continuous process to defame the industry for the things done by a handful, she added. Previously, Kangana had called the film industry a “gutter” and alleged that 99 per cent of the people who work in it have been exposed to drugs.

Ravi Kishan, a popular actor of Bhojpuri and Hindi films, raised in parliament the drugs-related allegations that have emerged against the film industry in the Sushant Singh Rajput investigations. He alleged a “conspiracy” by Pakistan and China to destroy the country’s younger citizens.

Meanwhile, Actor Kangana Ranaut has responded to Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan’s recent remarks against her and BJP MP Ravi Kishan, made during Tuesday’s parliament session. “Jayaji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also,” Kangana said.

It needs mention here that the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has raged in a wide controversy. Sushant’s girlfriend, actor Rhea Chakraborty, has been arrested along with her brother Showik and four others for allegedly procuring drugs for the late actor.
