Cachar ranks 3rd & Karimganj 5th in Assam in terms of COVID-19 deaths
August 29: Though scary, yet it is a fact that Cachar district is in 3rd position in terms of COVID-19 deaths. As of now, Cachar registered 25 deaths due to COVID-19. This was disclosed by State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati on Saturday.
The minister said that, Kamrup (Metro) district has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in Assam. The death toll in the district is 64. This is followed by Dibrugarh, where 39 deaths were reported. Cachar occupied the 3rd slot with 25 deaths. With 20 deaths, Tinsukia is in the 4th spot. Karimganj district in Barak Valley was ranked 5th with 18 cases of COVID-19 deaths followed by Kamrup Rural where 17 deaths were registered. So far, the death tally of the state due to COVID-19 has gone upto 286.
