Dist administration seals shop at Fatak Bazar for hike in price of commodities

August 25: The Cachar district administration has launched a wide publicity and dissemination campaign to ensure that consumers are not overcharged for essential commodities. To ensure that there is no undue increase in wholesale and grocery rates of essential commodities and to stop profiteering and hoarding, several steps are being taken by the administration.

In lieu of increasing complains against the price rise of essential commodities, district administration has decided to publish the details of stock and fixed prices of wholesale as well as retails of essential commodities and retails prices of vegetables, fish and chicken items of Cachar district regularly for public information and to remove any discrepancies and miscommunication on the matter .In case of any price discrepancies or hikes the complaints can be sent to 8638406156.

The administration jumped into action going around the various markets in the district. M/s Sunrise Stores of Fatak Bazaar has been closed on Tuesday by the officers of the district administration. During the visit to the shop, Assistant Commissioner found that the stores was selling commodities “with a hike in wholesale prices.”

Further, the concerned Circle officer visited Sonai & Sonabarighat markets to check on prices of essential commodities along with the Supply Inspector. The prices were found to be as per approved rates. However, two
shops were temporarily closed due to non-adherence of instructions & social distancing norms.
