2679 +ve in Assam on Friday including 250 in Cachar, state tally goes upto 55,496

August 7: On Friday, a total of 2679 new cases of coronavirus positive cases were reported from Assam. With this, the state tally has now gone upto 55,496, out of which, 18,137 are active. In Cachar district, a total of 250 persons were detected positive. Further, the state recorded 6 more deaths including one from Cachar, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 132. In a tweet, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “2679 COVID cases detected out of 58531 tests in last 24 hrs. Positivity rate continues to be low at 4.57% Kamrup (M)- 442, Kamrup (R)- 265, Cachar- 250, Nagaon- 172.”
