MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy interacts with citizens of Silchar on Indo-China relations
July 25: China’s muscle flexing in the Himalayas is nothing more than a futile attempt to destabilise the peace and tranquility in India. Infact, China’s aggressive policies are contributing to making more foes than friends. China has been aggressively pursuing an expansionist policy since decades. Ironically, it has not fought a single war in the last 70 years and interestingly, China does not have naval force to fight with India in the blue seas. These were the words spoken by Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy during a virtual meet with 100 leading citizens of Silchar constituency on Saturday evening. This is the 1st such virtual rally involving general citizens of Silchar.
Infact, BJP President JP Nadda directed Silchar MP to interact with leading citizens cutting across party lines and including, educationists, merchants, teachers, lawyers, doctors, journalists, youths and others on Indo-China relations. As such, Dr. Roy organised a virtual gathering of 100 such residents of Silchar through Google Meet. He spoke with them on Government of India’s firm resolve to scuttle Chinese agenda of muscle flexing.

China due to its aggressive foreign policy has antagonised many nations and is now almost globally isolated. On the India-China border, a series of stand-offs have taken place between the armed forces of the two countries. In one instance, at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh, China has violated the status quo intruding into territory. Saying so, Dr. Roy said, things have changed much since 1962 and 2020. India will not remain now as a mute spectator. The befitting reply given by the Indian forces at Galwan Valley is a glaring instance of Indian’s political mindset.
While interacting with the citizens, Silchar MP elaborated the genesis of the relations between the two countries since 1947. The episode of Dalai Lama taking asylum in India found special mention in his talk. This he believes has enlarged the acceptability of India among the world community. He stressed upon the fact that since the time of Mao-tse Tung, China has not fought any full fledged war but rather rather involved in intruding through the frontiers of its neighbours. Russia in 1967 gave a befitting response to such intrusion. He said that even Vietnam during the Cold War era resisted Chinese aggression with all its might. Dr. Roy summed up his deliberations with the conviction that a strong political will on the part of India will definitely serve as a ‘Great Wall of India’ in keeping the dragons at bay.
Those who participated in the Google Meet Rally on Saturday are Samar Kanti Roy Choudhury, Prof. Kamalendu Bhattacharjee, Dr. Monmath Nath, Nishikant Roy Choudhury, Shankar Adhikary, Paramita Kar, Sagarneel Dutta among others.
