17 tests positive including 1 posthumously in Cachar on Thursday

July 16: On Thursday, 17 more patients tested positive in Cachar district. The particulars of these 17 patients were furnished in 4 lists declared on Thursday. Out of the 17 positive cases, one of them was declared positive posthumously. A few of those detected positive on Thursday were without any travel history and were having fever and cough.

In the 1st slot, 2 persons were reported as positive. They are Samsuddin Laskar (30) from Srikona who came from Mumbai by air. His swab sample was collected on 14 July and his report came on 16 July, 2020. He is asymptomatic. Another person Narayan Mitra (70) from Janiganj, Silchar was also tested positive posthumously on Thursday. He was admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday after he was suffering from Influenza Like Illness (ILI). As his condition deteriorated, he was put under ventilation at SMCH. He succumbed to the virus at 6.05 AM on Thursday. His reports came after his death on Thursday. He was symptomatic.

In the 2nd slot, 7 persons were reported as positive. They are Pancha RoyJamatia (36) from Jail Road, Assam Rifles 2 MGAR, Cachar. He was detected under Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). He is asymptomatic. Another Assam Rifles personnel Kailash (42) came from Maharashtra and was having fever. His swab sample was collected on 15 July and his report came on 16 July. He was tested positive and is symptomatic. A pregnant lady, Sonai Rani (23) from Masimpur Military Station in Cachar also tested positive during the day. She is symptomatic.

KYK Roy (53) from DRDA Silchar was suffering from fever and cough. His swab sample was collected on 15 July and the report came on 16 July. He was tested positive. He is symptomatic. Sumita Rani Ghosh (23) from Rangirkhari, Silchar also tested positive during the day. She too was having fever and then when tested on 15 July, her reports came as positive on 16 July. She is symptomatic. Pintu Ghosh (35) also from Rangirkhari, Silchar was detected as COVID-19 positive. He was suffering from fever & cough from 2 days. He is symptomatic.

In the 3rd slot, 4 BSF personnel from Dholcherra in Cachar tested positive. They were tested under Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). Their swab samples were collected on 14 July and were tested positive on 16 July. They are Babu Lal (56), Ajit Singh (54), Kandan (40) and Dhirendra Kumar (53). All of them are asymptomatic

The 4th slot contained information pertaining to 5 more COVID-19 positive patients. All of them came from Hyderabad and are asymptomatic. They are Upananda Chasa (37) from Alanpur in Borjalenga, Bijon Mura (20) from Anandakhal in Bhaga, Motilal Rikiason (26) from Bagbahar in Dwarbond, Rajesh Ree (25) from Darbi in Dholai and Pappu Thakur (34) from Amraghat in Cachar. All of them were kept under quarantine at Hotel City Palace.

District Media Expert Sumon Choudhury informed that all the symptomatic patients will be admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), whereas those detected as asymptomatic will be taken to Foreigners’ Tribunal Building (make shift COVID Care Hospital) at Udharbond.
