Former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi tests positive for COVID-19

June 13: Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has tested positive for the novel coronavirus and announced this by taking to social media on Saturday afternoon. He is the second Pakistani player to test positive as Taufeeq Umar, a former opener, also was found to have the disease. Umar has recovered and fans are now praying for Afridi’s speedy recovery.

Since the pandemic broke out, Afridi has been doing a lot of charity work with his foundation Hope Not Out. The former Pakistan skipper has helped thousands of poor with ration and other essential supplies over the past couple of months. His works had even received the backing of Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, though the relations later turned sour.
