All DCs directed to go for requisition of all hotels in every district of Assam as quarantine centres

May 14: All the Deputy Commissioners of all districts of Assam has been directed to requisition all hotels in the district headquarters on rent basis and convert these as quarantine centres. Along with hotels, guest houses, police lodge and the like within the district will also be requisitioned. However, rooms with single toilet facility will be given preference while requisitioning the hotels. This was informed by State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at Guwahati on Thursday night.

The minister further said that elderly people above 75 years of age, Dibyang, pregnant women and those accompanying children 10 years and below will be allowed to go for strict home quarantine. But before allowing them to go for home quarantine, the head of the family must give a declaration in writing that none of the family members will go out of the house as the entire house will be declared as a containment zone.

The Deputy Commissioner of the respective districts will make available food stuff for those who are put under home quarantine. The minister further said that as the administrative machinery will be busy during the pandemic situation, so there may be certain irregularities in delivering food materials to the doorsteps. He, however, said that the government will try its utmost for these services. If anybody develops any symptom of COVID-19 within the 14 days quarantine period, then he/she would be immediately separated and taken for treatment.
