Assam Police launches tele-counselling helpline for panic attacks & anxiety ridden people
April 7: In view of the pssychological stress faced by the people due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Assam Police in association with Dept of Psychiatry, Gauhati Medical college & Hospital (GMCH) & Clinical Psychologists/ Psychiatric Social Workers have launched tele-counseling helplines for those in need of mental health care and support.
Appreciating the move, Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi wrote, “For people suffering through panic attacks and anxiety issues during this Lock down and fight against Corona, tele counselling facilities have been opened. May please make use of this facility by staying indoors and keeping safe.”
The Assam Police has informed that 6 helpline numbers will be operational in two shifts for this tele-counselling. The 1st shift will function from 9 AM to 3 PM. During this shift, those who require counselling may call 6026901053, 6026901054 and 6026901055. The second shift will be operational from 3 PM to 9 PM and may be contacted in these numbers 6026901056, 6026901057 and 58.
In a social media post, Assam Police wrote, “Assam Police in association with Dept of Psychiatry, GMCH & Clinical Psychologists/Psychiatric Social Workers have launched tele-counseling helplines for those in need of #MentalHealthCare & support. Together, we shall overcome.”
