Himanta comes to Silchar for 3rd time in a week, takes stock of COVID-19 patients at SMCH

April 6: It seems the state Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is leaving no stones unturned to personally monitor the COVID-19 preparedness in Assam. He is regularly visiting various hospitals spread throughout the length and breadth of the state. On Monday evening, the health minister was on a whirlwind tour of Silchar. He came here in a chartered flight.

During his visit, Himanta Biswa Sarma went to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) and took stock of the treatment facilities available there. He also went around the COVID-19 ward where two patients were undergoing treatment. The minister also held meetings with doctors and administrative head of SMCH.

He discussed in details a gamut of issues and offered suggestions on infection control measures. He advised the hospital authorities that less number of people should come in contact with the COVID-19 patients admitted there. He advised that the doctors, nurses and other staff should always wear the protective suits while going near the patients. He also added that the training of the doctors and nurses should be done more frequently to cope up with the situation.

The health minister was accompanied by Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, MP Silchar Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Rajdeep Goala, Kishore Nath, Mihir Kanti Shome, district BJP leaders among others.
