3 Nizamuddin returned man sent for COVID-19 test at SMCH, rest 16 still in Delhi

April 2: In a sensational disclosure, Media Expert of District Health Department, Suman Choudhury while interacting with the media on Wednesday informed that a total of 19 persons from Cachar went to “Markaz Nizamuddin”, the Delhi headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat group, which has hit the deadlines for being a ‘hot-bed of coronavirus.’ Out of 19, three of them who returned to Cachar were traced. They were sent to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) for COVID-19 test. They were kept in isolation ward at SMCH.

The rest 16 are still in Delhi and have not returned back. Suman Choudhury informed that his department is in constant touch with their family members and are collecting all information about them. He said, “Our health department and district administration is quite alive and awake to the situation. Even the police administration is cooperating with us.” He said that it’s now time to be a bit extra cautious as because one was detected positive. Though the corona positive 52-year person is from Badarpur (in Karimganj district), but as because he is undergoing treatment at SMCH, so we are very careful.

The Media Expert further informed that till 1 P.M. of Wednesday, a total of 3666 persons were quarantined in Cachar district. The man from Hassanpur village in Srigouri of Badarpur Circle (district Karimganj) who was infected with the deadly virus has a travel history of visiting Nizamuddin Markaz, from where he was contaminated. This was earlier disclosed by Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Ignoring all social distancing rules to avoid the deadly coronavirus, hundreds had been staying in the 100-year-old mosque complex, at Nizamuddin Markaz, which has a six-floor dormitory, since March 8. On March 21, there were 1,746 in the centre and 216 were foreigners, according to the home ministry. Delhi police have been evacuating them since the last two days. All of them were sent for quarantine facility.
