Not a drill anymore! District borders with Karimganj & Cachar sealed by Hailakandi

April 1: This is not a drill anymore. Complete lock down will be enforced in Hailakandi. Violators will be severely punished, stated Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi in her social media post. Meanwhile, the inter-state border with Mizoram was already sealed off by Hailakandi. This extreme step was taken after a man from Badarpur (in Karimganj district) was tested positive on Tuesday for COVID-19, who is at present undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

Though the condition of the 52-year old corona positive is learnt to be stable, but this has sounded alarm bells for entire Barak Valley. The tension increased further with 4 more people detected positive on Wednesday. All those who tested positive have a Nizamuddin Markaz connection.
