Family members of 52-year old COVID-19 positive patient quarantined at hospital

March 31: Assam’s first coronavirus positive case was reported on Tuesday evening. A 52-year-old person hailing Hassanpur under Badarpur circle in Karimganj district was tested positive for Coronavirua and is Assam’s first COVID-19 patient. He is undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) and his condition was known to be stable. Meanwhile, Anbamuthan M.P., Deputy Commissioner issued a notification on 31 March wherein he directed that the entire family of the corona positive patient be immediately quarantined at Girishganj Model Hospital.

Deepmala Gowala, Circle Officer of Badarpur and Anurag Phukan, Election Officer was entrusted the responsibility of supervising the entire process. He also stated that all social distancing and protective measures are to be followed thoroughly. In case of any problem, the Circle Officer of Badarpur was asked to coordinate with the ADC (Health), Karimganj.

Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan M.P. made it clear that all preparations are to be made for establishment and buffer zone as per “Assam Covid Containment Regulations, 2020” within the next 12 hours.
