1st corona positive case in Mizoram, 2nd in Northeast
মিজোরামেও ধরা পড়ল করোনা আক্রান্ত

২৫ মার্চ : মণিপুরের পর মিজোরামেও থাবা বসাল করোনা৷ আক্রান্ত ৫০ বছর বয়সী একজন যাজক৷ মিজোরামের স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী আর লালথাংলিয়ানা বুধবার সকালে সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন ডেকে এই তথ্য জানান৷ উত্তর-পূর্বে এটি করোনা হানার দ্বিতীয় ঘটনা৷ মঙ্গলবার প্রথম ধরা পড়ে, মণিপুরের এক গবেষিকা লন্ডন থেকে দিল্লি, কলকাতা, আগরতলা হয়ে ইম্ফলে পৌছার পর তিনি মারাত্মক ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হয়ে পড়েন৷

মিজোরামের ঘটনাটিও রাজ্যস্তরে মঙ্গলবারই নিশ্চিত হয়ে গিয়েছিল৷ তবু গুয়াহাটির ল্যাবরেটরির রিপোর্টের জন্য অপেক্ষা করা হচ্ছিল৷ এ দিন ওই রিপোর্টও পজিটিভ আসার পর ওই যাজককে সরকারিভাবে করোনা রোগী হিসাবে ঘোষণা করা হয়৷

এনএইচএমের মিজোরাম ডিরেক্টর এরিক জোমাইয়া জানান, মঙ্গলবার রাতেই তাকে জোরাম মেডিক্যাল কলেজে নিয়ে আইসলেশন ওয়ার্ডে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে৷ তার অবস্থা এই সময়ে স্থিতিশীল৷ জোমাইয়ার দেওয়া তথ্যে জানা গিয়েছে, ওই যাজক নেদারল্যান্ডের আমস্টারডাম থেকে দিল্লি হয়ে আইজলে গিয়েছেন৷

25 March: A 50-year-old pastor, who recently returned from Amsterdam, tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, making it the second case of the disease in the Northeast, Health Minister R Lalthangliana said on Wednesday. After the first test done in Mizoram, a second sample was brought to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. The second sample also tested positive on Wednesday morning.

Eric Zomawia, the mission director of National Health Mission (NHM) Mizoram, said the patient was in the Netherlands for higher studies. He took a flight from Amsterdam to Doha and then reached Delhi. He then flew to Guwahati and from there took another flight to Aizawl. The patient is now admitted at Zoram Medical College in Mizoram. He is an Aizawl resident.

The man returned from abroad with his family on March 16. The patient was having fever since March 18 but consulted a doctor only on March 22, following which his sample was sent to the GMCH for testing. The patient, his wife and two children have been admitted to the isolation ward at the Zoram Medical College (ZMC), about 16 km from Aizawl.

The state government is tracing the people he came in contact with and has advised his co-passengers on the Guwahati-Aizawl flight to go on self-quarantine. The health condition of the patient is learnt to be improving.

On Tuesday, a 23-year-old girl from Imphal (west) was identified as the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in Manipur. With a travel history to UK, the person is being treated at JNIMS.
