Dacoits broke open a house at Nilambazar, housewife displays wit, 1 arrested

September 14: In an incident of dacoity, 5 persons broke open the door of the bathroom and entered the living room where a lady was sleeping with her two children. The incident occurred at Keutkona village of Nilambazar at around 2 last night. All of them covered their face with black cloth.

Ahi Uddin, the owner of the house stays in Mizoram. His wife Jonna Begum lives alone with her two children in their house at Keutkona. When the dacoits broke the door of the bathroom, Jonna Begum woke up and could sense that someone has broken the door. However, she preferred not to make any noise at first. On entering the bedroom, the dacoits started to loot. It was then that all of a sudden, Jonna lit a light and could see the face of 2 of the dacoits. Surprisingly, she could identify both of them. Within a moment, the two dacoits attacked her with a sharp weapon. She received severe injury on her hand but somehow managed to reach the kitchen. From there, she took a knife used for cutting vegetables and ran after the 2 dacoits who attacked her. At the same time, she also raised a hue and cry.

At this, the two dacoits ran out of the house. Sensing trouble, the other 3 also flew away immediately. Hearing her call the neighbours rushed to her house. By that time, she was profusely bleeding from her hand and was later on taken for treatment in the morning.

Today morning, Jonna Begum lodged a complaint at Nilambazar Police Station. In her complaint she took the name of one Kala Miyan who she had identified. Police immediately set to action and arrested Kala Miyan from his rented house at Nilambazar. During interrogation, Kala Miya told the name of 4 other dacoits of the gang. The others were also staying with Kala Miyan. But the moment they came to know that Kala Miyan has been arrested, they fled away before the police could nab them. He also revealed before the police his links with other crimes. Police are now on the lookout of the 4 other dacoits. Later during the day, Kala Miyan was produced before the court and then put to prison. However, for the sake of investigation, police refused to divulge all details at this moment.
