Torch Relay of 3rd Khelo India Youth Games reaches Barak Valley
January 08: With only 2 days left for the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games, 2020 to begin in Guwahati, the torch relay for the games reached Silchar on Wednesday. The relay in Silchar began with the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Barnali Sarma, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul and other dignitaries leading from the front.
A number of torchbearers comprising students, sports persons and officials traversed through the main thorough-fares of the town which began at Silchar DSA. The relay in Hailakandi began with the former international footballer, Jowel Bey leading from the front. The rally at Hailakandi began at Nazrul Sadan premises. The Torch Relay of Khelo India youth Games was taken out in karimganj on Tuesday.
The event will be held between 10 January 2020 to 22 January 2020. The opening ceremony of the third Khelo India Youth Games will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati on 10 January. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Khelo India Youth Games officials launched the torch relay of the competition in Guwahati on 29 December, 2019.
Shankar Mahadevan and V Unbeatables of America’s Got Talent fame would be performing in the opening ceremony of the third edition of Khelo India Youth Games. Nearly 6500 athletes will take part in the event which is the highest in comparison to the last 2 events.
