Assam teacher terminated for anti-CAA protest reinstated under pressure

December 28: Bandita Borah working in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya (JNV) in Assam’s Jorhat district as Faculty-cum-System Administrator (FCSA) was terminated from service on 24 December for supporting school students participating in anti-CAA protests. However, owing to pressure from AASU and several other organisations, the authorities of Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya, Titabar have reinstated Bondita Borah.

As per sources, the reinstatement letter was issued by  Shyamolima Deka, Deputy Commissioner,  Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong under the department of Human Resources. AASU and AJYCP gave the Principal 24-hour deadline to reinstate Bondita, failing which an agitation would be launched against the school.
