‘Don’t believe in fake message, Banks will largely remain open in September first week’, said Bankers Association
ভুয়ো ম্যাসেজে বিভ্রান্তি, সেপ্টেম্বরের শুরুতে ব্যাঙ্ক খোলা

৩০ আগস্টঃ সেপ্টেম্বরের প্রথম সপ্তাহে ব্যাঙ্ক বন্ধ থাকবে বলে বিভিন্ন সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। তাতে দেশজুড়ে উদ্বেগ দেখা দেয়। বাধ্য হয়ে ব্যাঙ্ক ওয়ার্কার্স ইউনিয়নকে এগিয়ে এসে নোটিশ দিয়ে জানাতে হয়েছে, ওইটি পুরোপুরি ভুয়ো খবর। সেপ্টেম্বরের প্রথম সপ্তাহের প্রায় পুরোটাই ব্যাঙ্ক খোলা, কাজকর্ম যথারীতি হবে।

সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় বলা হয়েছিল, ২ তারিখ রবিবার। ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর জন্মাষ্টমী। ৪, ৫ তারিখে নিজেদের পেনশনের দাবিতে ব্যাঙ্ক ধর্মঘট। ৮, ৯ সেপ্টেম্বর আবার শনি ও রবিবার রুটিন ছুটি। তাই তখন এটিএমে টাকা মিলবে না।

ন্যাশনাল অর্গানাইজেশন অব ব্যাঙ্ক ওয়ার্কার্স-এর সহসভাপতি অশ্বিনী রানা জানান, এটিএমে টাকা না মেলার কোনও কারণ নেই। ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর জন্মাষ্টমী উপলক্ষে কিছু কিছু জায়গায় এনআই অ্যাক্টে ছুটির দিন বলে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে বটে, কিন্তু অন্যত্র ব্যাঙ্কে সেদিন ছুটি নেই। যেখানে বন্ধ বা ছুটি, সেখানেও অনলাইন লেনদেন বা এটিএম সেবা যথারীতি চলবে।এ ছাড়া ৪-৫ সেপ্টেম্বরের বনধ নিয়েও অহেতুক বিভ্রান্তি ছড়ানো হয়েছে। পেনশনের দাবিতে ওইদিন শুধু রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্কের কর্মীরা ধর্মঘট পালন করবেন। তাতে অন্য ব্যাঙ্কগুলির কাজকর্মে কোনও প্রভাব পড়বে না। অশ্বিনীবাবু তাই কাউকে বিভ্রান্ত না হতে পরামর্শ দেন।

 

“The message going around in the social media that banks will be closed for six days in the first week of September due to holidays and bank strike is not correct,” said National Organization of Bank Workers Vice President Ashwani Rana. Infact, Banks will largely remain open in the first week of September and there will be no impact on the functioning of ATMs, contrary to social media buzz that claimed banks across India will be closed for six days during the week.

The Whatsapp message which went viral in this regard reads as follows:

Now this is the reality check of the Whatsapp message–“Monday, September 3, is not a pan-India holiday for banks. Banks in some states will remain closed as per the Negotiable Instruments Act. This, however, will not impact the online banking transactions nor it will affect the operation of ATMs,” said Ashwani Rana. He further said that the call for strike by employees of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on September 4-5 (Tuesday and Wednesday) has been misunderstood as a strike by all bank employees. Rana said,”It’s only the RBI employees who are going on mass casual leave on September 4-5 for demands related to to Provident Fund and pension. This will not have much impact on the day-to-day operations of the other public and private sector banks.”

Though the banks in Delhi and Mumbai will remain open on Monday September 3, the day of Janmashtami, banks in some states would be shut. September 8 is, however, the second Saturday and thus a holiday. So, as of now there is no need to panic so much, if someone forwards you the same message on your Whatsapp.
