‘India was awake not to survive but to conquer,’ said Diganta Biswa Sarma at Assam University

September 12: Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM) of Assam Visvavidyalaya Samiti, Dakshin Assam Prant celebrated the 125th year of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Visit. The main speaker of the event was eminent philanthropist, Diganta Biswa Sarma.

The program was inaugurated with the welcome note delivered by Prof. Niranjan Roy, General Secretary, BSM. He upholded before the august gathering the contribution of Swami Vivekananda in rescuing youths from moral erosion and building human values.

Speaking on this occasion, Diganta Biswa Sarma laid down contribution of Swami Vivekananda, Aurobindo, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and other luminaries. He delineated the growth of nationalism and awakening process of Indian revivalism and motivated students with the thoughts and principles of Vivekananda. He also referred that spirituality is the main mantra which will lead towards the regeneration of motherland. His deliberation was replete with instances from the writings of eminent scholars as well as scriptures.

Other dignitaries who delivered in the program includes Prof. Ranju Rani Dhamala, Vice Chancellor In-charge, Prof. N B Dey, President BSM, Assam Viswavidyalaya Samiti, Pritish Deshmukh, BSM Prant President, Dakshin Assam. The programme was well coordinated by Dr. Debotosh Chakraborty.

The event also included certificate distribution ceremony. Students of VKV, Borjalenga and P.C.Bojalenga HS school received certificates from the dignitaries for their participation in Stress Management Program conducted on 7 May, 2019 by BSM, Assam University Unit, Centre for studies in Human Development and Patanjali Yogpith. Besides, certificates were distributed to the participants of Academic Writing Workshop held on 11th and 12th September 2019 by Research for Resurgence Foundation under BSM. The programme was compered by Dr. Soma Roy Choudhury of Deptt of Commerce, Assam University.
