Riding Squad nabs 4 dacoits from Silchar, seizes pistol & sharp weapons

June 23: Sharp eyes and prompt action of the Cachar Police’s riding squad enabled them to thwart an incident of robbery at Hospital Road, Silchar. On Sunday early morning, a band of four armed dacoits  were trying to break open a mobile shop opposite Silchar Civil Hospital. At that moment, the Riding Squad of Cachar Police was passing through that way. Suddenly they noticed that some people were trying to break the lock of a shop with some sharp weapons.

Exhibiting bravery, they immediately jumped into action and caught red-handed 4 persons involved in the crime. Police also recovered a Maruti 800 car with registration NL-07-2022, one .9mm pistol with three rounds of bullets, 8 mobile phones, two sharp weapons from them. It was learnt that they came to Silchar early in the morning with the intention of looting shops.

The 4 persons arrested were identified as Dulal Ahmed (20), Iqbal Hassan (26), Noimur Raja Choudhury (27) and Riju Ahmed (28). All are reportedly residents of Sadarashi, Karimganj. All of them are thoroughly interrogated by the police in order to know about their network and their modus operandi .
